Everyone knows video marketing is HOT! However, we also know that video production is a process of heavy efforts, time, and work. I have been often asked about the “how-to” & “what-to-do” to increase the effectiveness of video production, here are 5 foundational items can surely help you out:
1. Know where you are going:
Just like everything else in business, if you don’t pre-set your goal for your video production, then your content will not be focused enough to draw audience in. So ask yourself, what’s your goal for this particular video or video series, what is your target audience’s emotional state? Then create a killer series of videos to feed your audience with strong Call-To-Action!
2. Prepare ahead for your production environment:
Based on the type of video you will be producing, think ahead all possible factors you will encounter. For example, if you’d like to shoot outdoors, prepare situations for weak audio, weather condition, etc. Even it is indoor front of your web camera, there are still things to consider, such as phone ringing in the middle of production, dog barking, etc.
3. Write your story:
Storyboarding is one of the musts in successful video marketing. It is the soul of the whole thing. I have seen so many marketers got so occupied in the “hardware” preparation, and forgot about “software”-the reason WHY in producing videos.
The point of video marketing is to shrink the distance between YOU and THEM. So as you are planning your scripts/storyboarding, the focus should be in THEM, not you. In another words, you are participating your audience’ feelings/reactions each single step of the way as you plan each frame of your video.
4. Be congruent:
The reason why Video marketing is very effective, because your audience gets to “SEE, FEEL, TASTE” about you. So, it is crucial how you portrait yourself in your videos. Think what kind of “label” you would like to be put on? Your tone, your dress attire, your verbiage, your content …will BRAND you automatically. Therefore, it is worthwhile to pay attention to these details.
5. Be a good GPS:
Typically in the last frame of your video, it is the “money” frame we call it. It is where your audience watch through the whole video, have high interest in what you have to offer, a clear and easy direction is the must. Either you ask them to go to your website, or click a link below, push the button, etc whatever it will be…make sure it is easy to read, and not require your audience to think too much.
6. Upload to YouTube:
If it is a public video, Youtube is the 1st place you would want to upload, since Google owns Youtube. Youtube has become one of the largest searching engines, as web 2.0 evolved the way it does. In your Youtube channel, there are even datas to help you understand your audience’s demographics, so you get to know your audience better. I encourage you to spend some time to get yourself familiar with your own Youtube channel in details. It will be well worthy!
7. SEO your videos:
As you upload your videos to Youtube and all other video hosting sites, make sure place your keywords in your video title, description, and tags. So your videos are searchable by search engines. So you can drive traffic back to your web site. After you upload to Youtube, embed it back to your web site, stats shows that video in sales page increase the conversion rate between 6%-30%!
