7 Things You Can Do To Increase Your Video Marketing Productivity

Video Marketing

Everyone knows video marketing is HOT!  However, we also know that video production is a process of heavy efforts, time, and work.  I have been often asked about the “how-to” & “what-to-do” to increase the effectiveness of video production, here are 5 foundational items can surely help you out:

1. Know where you are going:

Just like everything else in business, if you don’t pre-set your goal for your video production, then your content will not be focused enough to draw audience in. So ask yourself, what’s your goal for this particular video or video series, what is your target audience’s emotional state? Then create a killer series of videos to feed your audience with strong Call-To-Action!

2. Prepare ahead for your production environment:

Based on the type of video you will be producing, think ahead all possible factors you will encounter. For example, if you’d like to shoot outdoors, prepare situations for weak audio, weather condition, etc.  Even it is indoor front of your web camera, there are still things to consider, such as phone ringing in the middle of production, dog barking, etc.

3. Write your story:

Storyboarding is one of the musts in successful video marketing. It is the soul of the whole thing. I have seen so many marketers got so occupied in the “hardware” preparation, and forgot about “software”-the reason WHY in producing videos.  The point of video marketing is to shrink the distance between YOU and THEM. So as you are planning your scripts/storyboarding, the focus should be in THEM, not you. In another words, you are participating your audience’ feelings/reactions each single step of the way as you plan each frame of your video.

4. Be congruent:

The reason why Video marketing is very effective, because your audience gets to “SEE, FEEL, TASTE” about you.  So, it is crucial how you portrait yourself in your videos. Think what kind of “label” you would like to be put on? Your tone, your dress attire, your verbiage, your content …will BRAND you automatically. Therefore, it is worthwhile to pay attention to these details.

5. Be a good GPS:

Typically in the last frame of your video, it is the “money” frame we call it. It is where your audience watch through the whole video, have high interest in what you have to offer, a clear and easy direction is the must. Either you ask them to go to your website, or click a link below, push the button, etc whatever it will be…make sure it is easy to read, and not require your audience to think too much.

6. Upload to YouTube:

If it is a public video, Youtube is the 1st place you would want to upload, since Google owns Youtube. Youtube has become one of the largest searching engines, as web 2.0 evolved the way it does. In your Youtube channel, there are even datas to help you understand your audience’s demographics, so you get to know your audience better. I encourage you to spend some time to get yourself familiar with your own Youtube channel in details. It will be well worthy!

7. SEO your videos:

As you upload your videos to Youtube and all other video hosting sites, make sure place your keywords in your video title, description, and tags.  So your videos are searchable by search engines.  So you can drive traffic back to your web site.  After you upload to Youtube, embed it back to your web site, stats shows that video in sales page increase the conversion rate between 6%-30%!

Why You Should NOT Use Your MLM Company’s Web Site

MLM Company Stop Sign

I’m going to start my blogging here at thatMLMbeat with a post that is probably a bit controversial.

You should NOT use your company’s web site!

OK, it is a bit of a catch 22.  You want to use your company’s web site because it is duplicable.  However most of your company web sites… well… suck.

Before you tell me I’m crazy, let me explain :)

Typically most of the best internet marketing tools are not created by our company. Most of the best tools are developed by distributors like you and me.

When a new MLM company is launching they may pay as little as $10,000 for their MLM software AND a boilerplate web site.  They get a little template driven web site by a company that develops MLM software. It has all the basics but that is all it is… basic.  It isn’t very good at marketing.

Heck, it might even be pretty. It might have great graphics or a flash movie but… Let me ask you this…

  • Do you know if someone visits your company web site? Do you get statistics telling you who visited, where they came from, what keywords they used, how long they were on your site, or what pages they viewed?
  • Does your company web site have a mailing list? Does it offer an incentive to get people to opt in to your list?
  • Does your company web site have one clear call to action or does it have menus with lots of fun things for the visitor to do?

Usually the answer to these questions is no.

Your company doesn’t let you track the traffic on your sites, and if you can track it, they’ll give you some basics like total number of hits.  They won’t let you see things like which keywords people used to find you, which web sites they came from, etc.

Your company usually doesn’t provide an autoresponder or way for you to build a mailing list if the person doesn’t buy during that visit.

Did you know it usually takes several exposures before someone joins your company or buys your product? That is why having a mailing list is so important.

You need to be building a list so you can get additional exposures to your prospect. You want to be able to put them on an autoresponder or invite them to a webinar or local meeting.  You can’t do this with most of your company web sites.

Then when you do get a visitor… they get all these menus of all these fun things to do. The history of the company, the founders, the full lineup of products, the link to the DSA or other industry associations, maps, lists of conference calls and events, etc. Another words, overwhelming amounts of information.

Most good sales pages or lead capture pages DO NOT have a lot of options. They have one strong call to action which is repeated several times on the page.  They try to get you to buy… or they try to get you to opt in to their list.  They usually only have one link which is not a call to action. This is the link for existing members/customers/distributors who got their by accident.  That’s it.  You really only have two options. This is one reason why the page is so effective at selling because there aren’t a lot of options to distract people.

And I haven’t even mentioned one of the most important reasons… the search engines!

Google hates replicated web sites like your company web site and even if it did like them only one person in the entire company would get the link.  Google doesn’t want 10 links that all look the same. One of the most important things to rank well in Google is to have a unique web site!

While you may want to use a duplicable web site like the one your company provides, if you’re going to do any amount of internet marketing you’re going to want to have your own web site or at least a web page, free blog, or something.  We’ll talk more about this in future That MLM Beat articles.

Disagree? Let me hear it! Leave a comment and let me know. I’d love to hear your point of view.

PS. Yes I know a few of you represent internet focused MLMs that have strong sales pages. These are internet ONLY companies and have spent tens of thousands of dollars testing single page sales letters. They’re very effective. I’m not referring to you. I’m referring to the majority of MLMs selling physical products that think a “store” is going to convert just because it has a shopping cart on it.

Blog SEO – Why Should You Optimize Your Blog?

Blog SEO

Blog SEO is one of the most effective strategies that you need to learn and master to perfection if you want your blog to be found and read.

Doubtlessly, you have created your blog so that you can drive massive amount of laser-targeted traffic and convert that traffic into repeat readers, subscribers and long-term customers.

So, you need to take action for that to happen. See, many new bloggers create a blog and then expect a flood of traffic to fall on their laps. Well, that’s a recipe for blogging failure.

Blog SEO if done properly can help your blog to grab top search engine rankings and drive unlimited traffic to your blog for free. How would you like to generate endless, laser-targeted traffic to your blog every single day without spending a dime?

It’s all exciting but maybe you feel intimidated by the whole SEO concept and don’t really know how to implement it. I remember when I used to think that SEO was complicated and I was just not interested in learning how it works.

Things changed when I realized that I needed to work on my blog SEO in order to attract more traffic.

What does SEO mean to start with?

It’s an acronym for Search Engine Optimization which basically means that your website will show up higher in the search engines when people search for your specific keywords.

What makes SEO powerful and popular?

Firstly, search engine bots look for keywords when they crawl websites, so if you use relevant keywords and phrases in your content, then you stand a good chance to get higher rankings and more traffic.

Secondly, it has been proven that more searchers prefer to click on the organic results (free listings) rather than the sponsored links (paid advertising). In addition, people don’t usually search beyond the first page. That’s why it’s important to get your blog on the first page by using the right keywords.

Now, in order to do a proper keyword research, you need to use the necessary tools so that you can understand what people are searching on.

You need to make sure that your blog is tailor-made and targeted to people who would be interested in what you have to offer, otherwise your blog SEO efforts would be wasted and your traffic will not be targeted.

Now that we have laid out the foundation for blog SEO, we will look at the actual steps that you need to take to optimize blog and increase the rankings and profits in the next post!

Get ready to boost your blog SEO!

MLM News Flash: NY Based Private Equity Firm To Acquire Pre-Paid Legal Services In $650M Deal

Pre-Paid Legal

Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc., will be acquired by Mid-Ocean Partners, a NY Based Private Equity Firm by the end of July 2011.

Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc, which offers legal services for a monthly fee, agreed to sell itself to private equity firm MidOcean Partners for $650 million in cash.

The offer price of $66.50 a share represents a 9 percent premium to Pre-Paid’s Friday close of $60.26.

Pre-Paid Legal said its board unanimously approved the agreement with MidOcean on Sunday and that the transaction is expected to close on July 31.

Pre-Paid had said in October that it was evaluating a $592 million buyout offer from an unnamed private equity firm. The company has been considering merger and acquisition offers for several months.

Shares of the Ada, Oklahoma-based company closed at $65.84 on Monday on the New York Stock Exchange.

“We are excited to have MidOcean involved in our efforts to increase the awareness of our consumer and small business services,” said Harland C. Stonecipher, Pre-Paid founder and chairman. “Our entire team is excited about the future prospects of our company and continues to believe, as does MidOcean, that our products offer tremendous value.”

Pre-Paid sells subscriptions to a limited package of legal services through a multilevel marketing network of independent agents. Those salespeople earn commissions on their sales, and the sales of others they recruit.

The transaction is expected to be complete by July 31.

Pre-Paid Legal’s 2010 4th Quarter & Year-End Results

During the 4th quarter of 2010, Pre-Paid’s new sales associates enrolled decreased 54.3% to 28,160 from the 61,623 enrolled in the 4th quarter of 2009 and new memberships produced decreased 20.8% to 117,472 during the 2010 quarter compared to 148,248 for the 2009 quarter.

For the year 2010, new sales associates enrolled decreased 25.6% to 138,442 compared to 186,064 enrolled during 2009 while new memberships produced were 502,982, a decrease of 11.5% from 568,095. Active memberships decreased 4.8% during 2010 from 1,547,585 to 1,473,237. From the 3rd quarter of 2010 to the 4th quarter of 2010, active memberships decreased by 19,896 memberships.

Several leaders in the MLM Community are predicting that within 2-3 years Pre-Paid Legal will no longer be a multilevel network marketing company. Only time will tell.

MLM Weekly News Report: Orrin Woodward Speaks Out On Amway Settlement And A Special Insider Secret Revealed!

This week Troy Dooly, shares some very interesting information about some of the greatest MLM coaches, news reporters, blogger and servant leaders inside the direct selling industry worldwide.

As a sought-after educational speaker, Bryan Thayer has traveled the country teaching his nine laws of networking. His self-help book, The One Minute Networker, available in five languages, teaches a life-changing approach to networking. Bryan and his wife Jackie have four children and live in Salt Lake City.

Orrin states… “We are pleased to announce that Amway Corp., MonaVie, TEAM, Orrin Woodward, Chris Brady, Tim Marks, and other parties have reached agreement to resolve all pending legal and arbitration disputes between them. The terms of the agreement are confidential.”

MLM Attorney and former in-house counsel for TEAM, Kevin Thompson wrote the following on his blog about the Amway .vs Woodward case… “In the same announcement, Amway announced a settlement with Orrin Woodward and TEAM. The Amway / Woodward / Team litigation has been insanely intense since August of 2007. I was there for the start and I’m certain there’s much relief on both sides as a result of the settlement. The Amway / Woodward litigation produced a cutting edge court opinion about the limits of First Amendment protection for anonymous bloggers that disparage a company. Click here for the opinion. ”

Now if we can just get Frank Vandersloot, the founder of Melaleuca out of court things would be on the right track.

Distributor sues Vandersloot

Melaleuca law may not be bullet proof.
