Hey Katie, good info – but I see you have a share widget which gives people close to 100 options for social posting. So rather than having 10 or so individual widgets would you recommend having the one ‘ShareThis’ widget instead?

I have been so confused with what to do with all the social sites on the internet and I finally got smart and I am only concentrating on a few and reading this post has confirmed what I thought. Focus on a few rather be all over the place.

You’re right, Jen. It’s easy to get on social sites and lose focus; especially if you belong to a large number of them. And what may start out working, may not always be the best down the road. Periodic evaluation is always necessary, no matter what marketing strategy you’re using. Good point.

It can definitely become so time consuming just to keep up with so many sites that you lose focus on your business and the goals you were trying to achieve by joining them.

At some point you have to step back and take a look to see if you are getting the desired results from each social networking site that you belong to. If not it may be time to move on.

And I agree with you about getting “over-booked” in groups as well…that can definitely be an easy trap to fall into– Very good point. The more we focus on creating a meaningful presence by providing value and offering solutions, relationships are built and that’s the true heart of networking! You said it perfect about “not just being a name on the Member’s Roster…” I like that!
