The economy is in poor shape, but it certainly doesn’t mean YOU have to be.  While manufacturing, construction and even banking jobs are harder than ever to come by, internet network marketing is booming!

Imagine yourself 10 or 15 years ago. Perhaps you had the perfect idea for a small business, but didn’t have any kind of advertising budget. Back then you also had to have a place to work from that would drive your overhead through the roof. However, now through , you can make your small business dreams come true with very little overhead! You can work from home marketing your ideas and have access to millions of people through the internet, greatly leveraging your time and efforts!

The truth is, being in a recession spurns ideas and competition. With just a little thought and a few hours on the computer each day, you can start realizing your small business dreams and enjoy some great supplemental income. Don’t let big companies determine how much money you can make. They are not the key to your happiness. You are!

No matter what you’re trying to market online for your , people will not only listen to a familiar voice, they will become wound-up excited fans for life. For years network marketers have understood that posture and positioning are everything; but today it’s all taken to another level, where everything happens online and seeing your name rank in Google is a largely rewarding goal.

Personal branding is no longer owned just by the famous. It’s a powerful concept that targets everyday people and is extremely important if you want to monetize using the internet.

Here are 5 crucial action steps to crafting your personal brand on the internet:

First Things First -Get a Personal Domain Name!

See if your name is available and if it is, GRAB IT! If not, remember you’re trying to promote yourself, not another company. You can find reasonably inexpensive domains at places like GoDaddy or Omnis.

Give Yourself a Home

Make this domain your “online home”, such as a personal blog where you can express your personality, create a following, and interact with your visitors. There are all kinds of widgets and applications you can use on your blog to create a community, get discussions going, and socially interact with your readers. Applications like TWITTER, Google Friend Connect, My BLogLog, and ChatToText are some well-known ones, just to name a few.

Always Use Your Real Name and Picture

Avoid using keywords for your name and pictures of money or sunsets to replace your face. You’re here to build relationships with people and you never know when you’ll come across your next business partner. So always try to keep it real, which helps build connection and trust. I don’t know how many times I’ve glazed over profiles with pictures of anything and everything other than an actual human face with generic names like “Make Fast Money Online” or “Internet Success”. To me, that right there just spells a pushy marketer; and I’m thinking “spam” right off the bat. First impressions are important.

Deliver Value to Your Market

The best way to brand your name online isn’t to endlessly pitch your products all over your blog. Overdosed self-promoting is a big No-NO and will turn people away fast! Instead, be a leader, a teacher, and the one to provide guidance and value to your target market. That will ensure you a respectable “branding” and create repeat visitors.

Understand It Doesn’t Stop There

We’d all like to think that just putting up a great personal website will attract an endless influx of leads. But this is just the beginning. Now you have to get out there in the world of social networking and interact, make friends, and help the community. The personal branding process takes time and effort. Remember you are trying to promote yourself, NOT a company or URL given to you by a business you’re involved in. mlm_challenge1The Internet is great, I love it…. it brings so many people together. We can meet people, chat to them, read their work, watch their videos and see their photos all within a few minutes of getting to know them.

We can find information and research at the touch of a button these days, but still WE CAN’T SUCCEED.

10-20 years ago, the biggest issue was finding out the information, today… it’s managing it, sorting it and avoiding overwhelm!

For us , there are SO MANY opportunities. We get pitched a new idea, the next best thing, or the next best product every SINGLE day.

You really do need to have your FULL PROTECTION SUIT on to repel all the new opportunities and products that fly into your email inbox daily.

FOCUS is the Key! Stick to 1 or 2 things and learn them well. Decide which kind of MLM training you are going to learn and learn it well. Become an expert in one key area and teach others how to do the same.

If you can stick to one MLM opportunity and one MLM system and work it every day, you WILL succeed.

I personally find that I have to take stock of what I’m doing every week. I read through my goals, check that I’m still on track and prune my activities down to the main ones.

If you scatter your focus too much, you’ll scatter your results…. laser focus = laser sharp results.
