Google, Twitter, and the 250 Million Dollar Deal

google-twitterIs Google in “late stage” negotiations to buy out Twitter for over 250 million dollars?  Does Twitter pose a threat to Google’s dominance in traditional web search?  Twitter is certainly an appealing social platform due to its potential for a real-time search.  What do you think?  Does a Google-Twitter deal make sense?

Just got on the Twitter bandwagon and I’m struck by this post. If Google buys Twitter, they would just strengthen their domination of the Interwebs. Some would say it is good while some say it is bad as the Big G could amass too much power.

As for me, I’d say it does not matter. If you love Twitter and the idea behind it, you would stick with it no matter who owns it. Just my two cents.

Hi Terry. Yes, to much power is never a good thing. But you are right, wether it will really effect the end user, we don’t know. Love Twitter regardless!

Well… Twitter is worth much more than $250 Mill. If Facebook is worth $15 Billion does it make sense that Twitter will be worth 98% less???

Yes, I agree. At the time of this post (several months back), this was the offer. I am sure that the figures would look dramatically different if they had to re-evaluate the offer.
