Network Marketing Why? Denis Waitley’s Classic Story
by Maggie Lancy · 2 Comments
Why are you building your Network Marketing Business? Do you know that your network marketing why is more Important than the how? When the why, your goals and clear vision of what you want in life is burning in your heart and soul, you will build a global network marketing empire if you persist and never give up. No doubt.
This classic story is excerpted from Denis Waitley’s Psychology of Motivation.
I have a suitcase for you. In that suitcase there is $1 million in cash. The suitcase is sitting in a building that is about an hour’s drive from where you are now.
Here is the deal: All you have to do is get to this building in the next two hours. If you get there before the end of the two hours, I will hand you the suitcase, and you will be a million dollars richer.
There is one catch, however. If you are even one second late, our deal is off, and you will not get a dime. No exceptions! With that in mind, what time would you like to leave?
Most people would respond to that scenario by saying that they would leave right now. Wouldn’t you?
So off you go. You jump into your car and start driving for the building. You are excited and are already starting to plan how you are going to spend your million dollars. Then, suddenly, the traffic comes to a complete stop. You turn on the radio and find that there has been a series of freak accidents between you and the building and there is no way to get there!
Now what would you do? Would you give up and go back home? Or would you get out of your car and walk, run, hire a helicopter, or find some other way of getting to the building on time?
Now let’s suppose for a minute that you are driving to an appointment at your dentist’s office. The traffic again comes to a stop. Amazingly, there have been freak accidents between you and your dentist’s office. What would you do then? Probably give up, go home, and reschedule!
What is the difference between these two situations? It all comes down to why. If the why is big enough; the how is usually not a problem. This compelling why is connected to your personal objectives, mission statement, or magnificent obsessions. It is the basis of your motivational support beam. Truly motivated people are able to identify and tap into the power of a compelling why in everything they do.
Denis Waitley
What a great story to keep in mind when re-evaluating your network marketing why.
What is Your Most Valuable Asset in Network Marketing?
All successful network marketers possess a single common attribute that plays an important role in success—it is easy to possess, yet all too often missing.
Do you have what it takes?
INTEGRITY: Adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty; The quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards.
How many times do we see those flashy “Join today….make millions” ads all over promising a quick buck with no effort and the ability to make millions virtually overnight? Just hand over your credit card number and “wallah!”
Hey, we are real people here….working on trying to get by in a harsh world. We work hard for the dollars we earn and we strive to make ends meet. All we want is more time with our kids and less time chained to our J.O.B. Don’t they realize this?
Of course they do! Those out there for a quick buck understand what buttons to push and know how to lure their prey into their internet scams. A person can be so eager to change their lives they will grasp at almost any MLM business opportunity—even against better judgment.
What’s next? We hand over our hard-earned money, and then we wait—wait for that promised cash to start rolling in. Okay, where is it? Then there’s the part where have no idea where to start and still no one to help us. We try placing a few online ads, submit our web pages to a few search engines… and still nothing.
Where is our sponsor? Why don’t they reach out and help us? Well, more than likely they’re in the same boat dealing with the same problems and frustrations of trying to build the business. We’re left with no guidance, no one to answer our questions, and we get discouraged, let down, frustrated, and then completely convinced that all network marketing businesses are frauds!
These offers and programs have fancy web sites, convincing ad copy, flashy banners, and endless claims from “gurus”. However, even in the midst of all of this, there is something desperately missing— INTEGRITY. Without it, all the flashy banners and extraordinary claims are worthless.
However, there ARE plenty of companies out there demonstrating integrity, and they have a genuine interest in helping others achieve their goals. The most successful internet network marketers are those lead by example—they invest their time in the people they recruit. They’re available to answer questions, admit they don’t have all the answers, and share their experiences; and they work by your side to help solve a problem. They have INTEGRITY!
These network marketers consist of a team of people who are loyal and dedicated to building a successful business. Wouldn’t you rather work with someone who isn’t afraid to “get in the trenches” with you and get the job done?
You have the power to raise people to levels of success and can inspire your team to be the kind of leader they have found in you.
Once you are committed to being honest and sincere, with a willingness to help others—getting rid of all traces of any “grab the cash and run” attitude, you will achieve the success you’ve been looking for! And you can enjoy success knowing it didn’t come at the expense of someone else.
Be proud of your accomplishments, reach out to help others succeed, and always strive for integrity! You’ll see your network marketing downline become your greatest resource, and this is something you cannot put a price on!
Network Marketing and The Secret of Bob Proctor
In a recent interview with Bob Proctor, coach of the Law of Attraction, Network Marketing Expert and star of The Secret, he spoke about Network Marketing and moral compensation.
Initially, Bob never really understood the concept of network marketing. He ignored it until a doctor that he respected became interested in network marketing and discussed it with him.
He soon realized that the secret of moral compensation in network marketing was balance and fairness in business. Everything, such as the company, its products and services, and compensation, has equality as the network marketer works and earns.
There is harmony with the law of attraction in network marketing because people earn what they deserve.
The law of cause and effect is about what you earn and depends on the effort you put into your work. It means you will receive appropriate recognition and compensation for your efforts.
Bob says people work because of two basic necessities in life:
- They need to feel a certain satisfaction at the end of the day from their job.
- They need to earn enough money in order to give themselves the lifestyle they desire for their materialistic needs.
Bob Proctor claims you can satisfy both these needs in network marketing.
Since there is a gap between the jobs at the bottom and top of the workforce ladder, people at the bottom level often become frustrated. People in network marketing tend to enjoy what they are doing as they earn a lot of money in the process.
Any business is structured like a pyramid. But, in network marketing, everyone starts at the top and they continue to grow, depending on the effort they put into the work they do.
In a regular business office, people working in entry-level jobs or blue-collared jobs may remain at the bottom and might not have any opportunities to grow up the ladder towards the top of the pyramid.
People in regular businesses don’t help one another unless they have job connections. People literally have to lie, cheat, steal or deceive in order to get ahead in a regular business structure as if they are trying to win a reality show contest.
In network marketing, there is no need for such deception or trying to meet the right job connections. People want to help others in order to help themselves. There is no end to this business growth, expansion, and expression because of the unlimited growth.
The more experienced network marketers who are making more money want to sponsor new people to make more money and prosper so they can further prosper.
But there are some challenges in network marketing, such as making a paradigm shift and then helping others create their own paradigm shift. The secret is to know what you want as well as effectively communicate and share your goals and vision with others.
Since the distribution system in this Internet business is more balanced out and harmonious, creating more opportunities to grow and prosper comes quickly and easily as you actually perform your tasks. There is an unlimited amount of supply that is in harmony with the atmosphere, creating unlimited opportunities for income.
It might be a difficult transition from the business office environment to Internet and network marketing. They both are different lifestyles, and it is hard for most people to switch from one to the other. People become accustomed and set in their old ways of business and thinking and find it hard to make the transition.
They can eventually learn the process and get the hang of it, but they may be very frustrated and tense as they try to learn the process which seems so new and foreign to them.
In order to learn about network marketing, people need to change their mentality. They need to know and appreciate themselves as well as have confidence and become more independent in order to work hard and get ahead.
The world and business has changed and people need to adapt to this change if they desire success or risk being left behind.
